Installation¶

Read Getting Started first if you haven't. It covers what Aurora Silicon is, what it needs, and whether your machine is a sensible candidate.

Before you begin¶

To write: the checklist a user should complete before starting — supported hardware confirmed, prerequisites gathered, and a clear statement of the risks they are accepting.

Back up your Mac¶

To write: the backup advice, stated plainly and early. What a backup does and does not protect against here, and why it matters for this particular process.

Prepare the installer¶

To write: obtaining the installer and verifying it, including checksums or signatures if the project publishes them.

Run the installer¶

To write: the actual installation steps. Numbered, one action per step, with the expected output shown for each. Note anything that requires a reboot, a password, or a recovery-mode boot.

First boot¶

To write: what the user should see the first time the system comes up, and the initial setup they need to complete.

Switching between macOS and Windows¶

To write: how the user chooses which system to boot, and how to change the default.

If something goes wrong¶

To write: the common failure modes and their fixes, plus how to recover a machine that won't boot. Link to Removal for users who want to back out entirely.

Getting help¶

To write: where to ask for help and what to include when reporting an installation failure — logs, hardware model, and the step that failed.
