Artwork

The Aurora Silicon mark is a four-pane window with a bite taken from the upper-right pane, running warm orange to deep blue — Windows and Apple silicon in one shape.

No SVG, and an honest reason why

The mark is continuous-tone artwork — glossy shading and soft gradients across every pane, roughly 200,000 distinct colours. Automatic tracing would either flatten it to a silhouette, losing the identity entirely, or emit tens of thousands of paths approximating gradients: larger than the PNG and worse looking.

A genuine vector version has to be drawn, not converted. Until someone does that, the 1024px PNG is the master and the smaller sizes are derived from it.

Colours

Hex Where
Warm #E8822A Upper-left pane; the accent throughout this site
Cool #2E52C4 Lower-right pane
Deep #1F2A5E Ground in dark contexts

The site's heading rules run warm → cool, echoing the mark's own transition.

Using the mark

You may use it to talk about Aurora Silicon. Articles, videos, blog posts, talks, forum threads, packaging that mentions the project, community materials — no permission needed, no attribution required. If you are covering the project, please do use it; that is what it is for.

Please do not:

  • Use it as the identity of a different project, product, or service
  • Use it in a way that implies Aurora Silicon endorses, maintains, or is affiliated with something it is not
  • Redraw, recolour, stretch or add to the mark and continue to present it as the Aurora Silicon mark — scale it freely, but keep its proportions and colours
  • Use it as your own trademark or brand

The short version: use it to point at us, not to stand in for you.

The mark deliberately echoes both Windows and Apple imagery, because that is what the project is about. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or produced by Microsoft or Apple, and it should never be presented as either company's mark or as evidence of their involvement.

Aurora Silicon is likewise not affiliated with Asahi Linux — see the FAQ. Please do not combine this mark with Asahi's in a way that suggests otherwise.
